Hello world and welcome to our summer tour.

Our family has decided to embark on a tour of notable BBQ joints in and around the Lowcountry of South Carolina. Destination BBQ is our simple blog designed to capture our experiences during each our of stops.

Who are we? We are the Rollers from Mt. Pleasant, SC: Jim, Heather, Christian, Chelsea, and Camden (and Dixie, too). We don’t pretend to be connoisseurs or experts in the field. We simply enjoy good food, and really like good BBQ.

It is our intention to provide our subjective opinions of what we experience. Good, bad, or just ok. We’re not food critics, we’re not expert pit masters. We are who we are: just an average family. But if you want a true, honest, unbiased opinion of what we experienced on a given day, that we can provide.

So, tomorrow we begin.

Heather read an article in Southern Living about Scott’s BBQ in Hemingway, SC. (Supposedly, it is one of the best in the South. We shall see.) And this is what sparked us to begin our journey. So Friday, June 8, 2012, we set out for Hemingway on the first steps of a trip that will lead us we know not where.

Come along for the ride…

I'd say y'all are overdue for another barbecue tour. I really appreciate the reviews

You're right. I have been craving some good BBQ lately. We have actually hit a few new places, but I've been lazy about writing a review. We've been to Hudson's in Columbia and Cannon's in Little Mountain, among others. In short, we liked both, though I still don't care much for the strong mustard sauces you get in the midlands. Cannon's has great hash and we enjoyed Hudson's enough that Camden and I dropped by for lunch on a second trip back through Columbia shortly after our first visit there. Maybe I'll do a quick summary of the ones I remember, and then we can pick it back up now that summer is around the corner.

Try Music Man's in Moncks Corner and Kellies in Summerville. Moose's is also open in Summerville.

Thanks, Steve. We have each of them on the radar. In fact, we went to Dukes in Ridgeville on July 6 only to find them closed. We picked between Dukes of Summerville and Moose's for dinner that night. We ended up at Dukes (review pending), but we also grabbed a pound of pulled pork from Moose's. Wish we had gone there instead...
